Fiber Artistry: Journey of the Imagination

Fiber Artistry - Journey of the Imagination is an exhibition presented by The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild at the Jacqueline Casey Hudgen Center for the Arts in Duluth, GA.

I was unable to attend the opening reception, which was on September 17...but was just notified one of my entries - "Catching the Moon Phase 6" - has won the HGA (Handweavers Guild of America) Award! Lynn Lowance very kindly emailed me these photos, which show both of my works on the title wall of the exhibition.

Of course i am thrilled, and thank the Chatahoochee weavers for this opportunity to exhibit, and also Lynn Lowance for her kind notification.

This exhibit continues through October 24, 2009, i hope some of you will be able to attend.

Close ups of both the works on exhibit (along with the rest of the "moon" series) in this show are posted on my website at PamelaZimmerman.net

This link allows you to be come a fan of the The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild on facebook!

1000 sales!

Congratulations to So,Sherry who has just celebrated her 1,000 th sale on etsy! Wow! That is really a milestone!

In celebration, So,Sherry is giving away a custom map necklace. In order to qualify to win, see her blog.

Don't forget to check out her wonderful etsy shop!

The Winner is.....

Me, again. Wow, I have won two things in the last couple of months, which is just unprecedented!

This time, i won a lovely choker from The Beaded Lily . The giveaway was announced in her blog and tweeted by 1,000 people! I was the lucky person who tweeted it the 1,000 th time! The giveaway was coordinated through Sweet Figments, where you can read all about The Beaded Lily.

Don't miss checking out The Beaded Lily's etsy shop, where the lily's goal is "to connect you to the thread of artistic personal adornment that is almost as old as humanity itself." Wow. That is great! There is some amazing beaded stuff there! I am partial to this How To Be A RockStar Bead Woven Cuff, with polymer clay bird skulls by another etsian, but her offerings there range from wonderfully simple lines to very elaborately beaded and totally unique pieces.

Definitely worth a look. Thanks again,

Pamela

Newest Weekend Deal

Well, here comes another weekend. I have signed up for a whole series of weekend promotionals with etsy.com.

This weekend, September 18-20, i will be participating in etsy's BOGO weekend.

1. in my PurpleToedGypsy shop, buy one, get one free on all of my Art Gal Pins.

These little darlings are made of recycled plastic, hand drawn, colored, and beaded. Many of them are carrying little tiny hand-woven (of course) baskets, some are horsehair. They also all feature a pet - fish, dog, cat, bird, etc.

2. in my Bazketmakr shop, buy one, get one free on all of my Beach Treasure Pouches
These are open netting, woven bags to wear as necklaces. They are great for carrying special crystals, gifts from your child, shells and stones picked up at the beach or on vacation, etc.

and here is the special offer, just for those of you who read my blog:

3.in my MakeABasket shop, buy one, get one free on all of my pottery basketry bases

hand shaped by me from stoneware, glazed and fired (twice) to cone 6, which is quite hot. A great beginning for any coiled basket!

To redeem this offer: In all shops, make two purchases, and pay using PayPal. Mention "weekend deals" or "BOGO" in the message to seller. You MUST make BOTH purchases in the SAME SHOP. For instance, you CANNOT buy an pin in one shop, and get a free pouch from another shop. But you can apply this offer in more than one shop - if you wish to have a BOGO in each of my three shops offering this special, be my guest!

When i receive confirmation that you have paid, i will refund the price of one of the purchased using PayPal also. Of course, if the two purchases are not the same price, the lesser price will be refunded to you. Shipping will also be refunded, you will only pay one shipping charge.

I try very hard to ship next day, and all items listed in my shops are ready to ship (excluding custom pouches.)

The Enticing Feather

I just came across a wonderfully written blogpost by Mermaiden Creations, about feathers. I just wanted to share it with you!

Please make sure you read the last couple paragraphs, where she explains the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

So many artists and crafters unknowningly break these laws and put themselves at risk for prosecution by the federal government because of it.

Please remember, though a feather seems like a "free gift" from the bird, federal laws prohibit their sale (indeed, their posession) for the protection of the bird.

Thanks so much for blogging that for us!

Here Comes a Weekend Deal!

This is a sneak peek, early offer for those of you who read my blog...as of tomorrow, i will be offering free worldwide shipping in my PurpleToedGypsy shop on etsy.com. Officially, the offer begins tomorrow, Friday, September 11...but if you purchase anything and put in a message to seller that you saw the offer in my blog, you can have it early! Once payment is made with Paypal, I will refund the shipping fees in their entirety. Or, you can convo me and ask me to send an amended invoice before you pay, one that doesn't have shipping on it. Easy as that!

I have been working to stock this shop, but if you see something in my other shop (bazketmakr,) all you have to do is tell me you read it here, in my blog, and i will extend the offer there to any wearables (anything that can be worn) and miniatures as well. So if you have always wanted to have a horsehair basket necklace, earrings, or just have a little horsehair basket to sit in your miniatures case, here is your chance!

Remember to message me that you saw it here!
