Weaving Classes Offered at NCBA Convention March 2014

It is so exciting every year, North Carolina Basketmaker's Association Convention!

This year, it is March 13 - 16, 2014.

I am teaching 3 classes, and I would love to have you in them!

All three are woven wearables.

I thought you might like to see them close up, it is so hard to see what they look like in the brochure!

 Corseted Heart Necklace
THMB35Thursday, 4-6 pm
2 hours, Beginner $26

Weave beautifully understated waxed linen knotless netting over a hand crafted, wonderfully irregular pottery heart. Results in an exquisitely simple and elegant necklace, perfect for Valentine’s Day, bridal, and gift giving. Color choices  This necklace was featured in the September issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine!

Hummingbird Locket
Thu MB36, Thursday 1-3pm
2 hours, beginner, $35
So adorable, and fast and easy!  Craft wire is used to randomly weave teeny tiny bird’s nests, with gorgeous natural freshwater pearls masquerading as eggs.  Then nestle your tiny creation in natural lichen to make an adorable locket terrarium.  Locket may vary. Students may want magnifier and/or personal light.

 Lace Window Necklace
SUMB38, Sunday 8-10
2 Hours, All Levels, $28
Learn to weave a beautiful layered weaving in a pottery window of your choice. Many color choices available.  Finish off with beading to make a striking lacy statement necklace!  Light and magnifier recommended. Bring small sharp scissors.

I would love to see you there!

Learn a Looping Technique in Belle Armoire Jewelry This Autumn

I am honored to have been asked to write a how-to article for Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine. If you have not read this magazine before, I highly recommend it.  There is always lots of technique based information in it, and wonderful photography.

My article is a basic looping (knotless netting) technique, and includes a project with step by step photos and tips. The project uses my "faux stone" clay hearts, found in my MakeABasket etsy shop.
Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine is published by Stampington & Company, my article is in the Autumn 2013 issue, hitting newstands September 1.
No news stand near you? No problem!  They offer an online preview and discount, $2 off, plus free shipping. I have used this service before, and it's great!  I love this! My town does not have a book store, where I can buy these, so I have to drive 30 miles to get one, or have a subscription.  The magazine is sent the same time it comes out on news stands, but it is wrapped up (so your neighbor or carrier does not get sucked into reading it) and comes quickly.
The article i have written is previewed in image 7.
You can also subscribe to Stampington & Company newsletters yourself, and get more great previews!
