Continuous Threads invitational exhibition opens June 13, 2015 through September 7, 2015

Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, Atlanta (Buford), Georgia , presents  Continuous Threads:  An exhibition that chronicles the historical significance of  weaving in Georgia and the South for the past two-hundred years.  I was invited to participate in this remarkable fiber art exhibition, as a demonstration of how the traditional technique of coiling is carried into the contemporary art realm.  Three of my contemporary art works were selected by curator Ariana Yandell.

There will also be a Fiber Fest associated with this exhibition, Sunday June 28, filled with activities for the whole family. I hope to be there that day, I will keep you posted!~

Peek at the Opening Last Night

For those of you (like me) who could not be at the Small Works exhibition opening last night, the Hollingsworth Gallery has very kindly posted images online.



Looks like it was a wonderful casual reception, with live guitar music!



Small Works is a collection of art pieces in many different mediums all under 12". On display through September 7th, my piece, "Interplay" (below, under scrutiny) is included.

Discovering Treasure

Found a new little gallery this week, tucked away in a corner just outside the city of Greenville, NC. What a little treasure!

InkStone Gallery is a wonderfully cozy experience, with tiny rooms chockfull of earthy artistic goodness. There is a wonderful cross-section of media and artists there, from fiber to 2-d to jewelry and pottery to glass. Every price point, too. Their website shows a nice representative of the artist offerings there, but fails to capture the entire charm and intimacy of the gallery.

As of this week, some of my work will be there...actually, one piece sold before we signed the contract, so i suppose that is a good sign. I am feeling very good about being a part of their artist community.
