There have been some changes...sorry to say, i can no longer maintain the gallery. It had not been updated in 5 years, so i am trying something different. From now on, i will feature basketmakers in my blog (this blog) at regular intervals. If you would like to be featured, please let me know by email. I will have a list of questions for you, or you can submit a prepared statement. I will also send guidelines for photos. Thanks so much!

I will also be updating all the pages for links. If you have new links for the Pine Needle Group website, please also submit them to me by email.

What are you doing for National Spinning and Weaving Week?

Only one day left for Spinning and Weaving Week. Have you done something to celebrate the time honored crafts of fiber?

The Handweaver's Guild of America says, "The crafts of spinning, weaving, dyeing, and basketweaving are as ancient as our history; they are the threads that bind us to our ancestors and to each other. Our crafts know no national boundary. They are a part of the heritage of the world. The Spinning and Weaving Week celebration reflects the truly international membership of the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc., and the international traditions of our crafts. We invite all weavers, spinners, dyers and basketweavers around the world to join together in celebration of our common heritage."

What am i doing? This week i brought a whole new batch of pottery basket bases to my guild, so they could have first pick...on these last days of Spinning and Weaving week, i will begin listing them on etsy for other basketmakers. Also, I am launching a new project...weaving impregnated with clay! I have woven four tiny vessels with loose cotton fiber, and am going to soak them with clay and fire. So exciting! Will keep you posted on my progress.

Fiber Artistry: Journey of the Imagination

Fiber Artistry - Journey of the Imagination is an exhibition presented by The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild at the Jacqueline Casey Hudgen Center for the Arts in Duluth, GA.

I was unable to attend the opening reception, which was on September 17...but was just notified one of my entries - "Catching the Moon Phase 6" - has won the HGA (Handweavers Guild of America) Award! Lynn Lowance very kindly emailed me these photos, which show both of my works on the title wall of the exhibition.


Of course i am thrilled, and thank the Chatahoochee weavers for this opportunity to exhibit, and also Lynn Lowance for her kind notification.



This exhibit continues through October 24, 2009, i hope some of you will be able to attend.

Me, again. Wow, I have won two things in the last couple of months, which is just unprecedented!
